“”DON’T panic or give in to your fears, for the breaking apart of the world’s systems is destined to happen. BUT IT WON’T YET BE THE END; it will still be unfolding. “Nations will go to war against each other and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be terrible earthquakes—seismic events of epic proportion, horrible epidemics and famines in place after place. This is how the FIRST contractions and birth pains of the new age will BEGIN!
…There will be such an increase of sin and lawlessness that those whose hearts once burned with passion for God and others will grow COLD. But keep your HOPE TO THE END and you WILL experience life and deliverance. “Yet THROUGH IT ALL, this joyful assurance of the REALM OF HEAVEN’S KINGDOM will be proclaimed all over the world, providing every nation with a DEMONSTRATION of the reality of God. And AFTER THIS the end of this age will arrive.”” Matthew 24:6-8, 12-14
How many events that Jesus mentions are we experiencing? I would say all. We have had an increase of earthquake activity in the last few years beyond what has been the norm. The whole continent of Australia was recently ablaze. I would say that is of epic proportion. Locusts swarm the lands in Africa and the Middle East. There has always been kingdom against kingdom—even in our own country (Dems/Reps). Now, an epidemic that is causing some serious repercussions worldwide. Let’s not forget the lawlessness and the love of many growing cold—in fact, some translations say that everyone will be offended. Hmmm…yea, I’d say we got that one down pretty good—even the church.
So, this must mean that the white horse is coming and we are out of here! YEA!!!
Wait! I forgot. We have to read the rest of Jesus’s words. There is a “hope” He mentions here that we have to keep to the end. Then He says—through it all. All of what!?! Surely, He can’t expect us to stick around for that…and if He does, what does He expect us to do?
Well, let’s look at His words. “Heaven’s Kingdom will be proclaimed all over the world, providing every nation with a demonstration of the reality of God.” After this… “this” what?
The proclaiming and demonstrating of the Kingdom of God all over the world. Every tribe, language, and tongue. Now this is something that I knew in the back of my mind but I never really paid much attention to the fact that there is more than a proclaiming by mouth but there is also a demonstration. In other words, my actions better back up what I’m saying. Put up or shut up–so to speak.
Have you ever noticed how much of an approach this was for Jesus and His disciples?
“and he sent them out to PROCLAIM the kingdom of God and to heal.” (DEMONSTRATE) Luke 9:2
“Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’” (DEMONSTRATE) Luke 10:9
“and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in DEMONSTRATION of the Spirit and of power,” (DEMONSTRATE) 1 Corinthians 2:4
“The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, YEARNING to see the UNVEILING of God’s glorious sons and daughters!” (TAKE THEIR PLACE)(DEMONSTRATE) Romans 8:19
“Let us rejoice and exalt him and give him glory, because the wedding celebration of the Lamb has come. And his bride has MADE HERSELF READY.” Revelation 19:7
There are plenty more examples in the word—both Old and New Testaments.
How about when Jesus heals the paralytic.
“4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For WHICH IS EASIER ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 7 And he arose and departed to his house. 8 Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men. Matthew 9:4-8
It was like He was telling them—I know what your thinking—anybody can “say” anything—but let me demonstrate what I mean…
I can hear you—“but that was Jesus!”
We could just go through the whole book of Acts, but then you would say—“that was the apostles!”
But what do you do with this…
“teaching THEM to observe ALL things that I have commanded you” Matthew 28:20a
“Most assuredly, I say to you, HE WHO BELIEVES IN ME, the WORKS that I do HE WILL DO also; and GREATER WORKS than these HE WILL DO, because I go to My Father.” John 14:12
“As You sent Me into the world, I ALSO HAVE SENT THEM into the world.” John 17:18
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead DWELLS IN YOU, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to YOUR MORTAL BODIES through His Spirit WHO DWELLS IN YOU.” Romans 8:11
“the mystery which has been HIDDEN from ages and from generations, but NOW has been REVEALED to His saints. 27 To them God willed to make known what are the RICHES OF THE GLORY of this mystery among the GENTILES: WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY. 28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may PRESENT EVERY MAN PERFECT in Christ Jesus. 29 To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which WORKS IN ME MIGHTILY.” Colossians 1:26-29
There are plenty more. The point is—we have used the excuse long enough We have to realize what He is saying to us—who He has MADE us—it’s not us—it’s HIM IN US! We have to quit believing the lie. Satan had Adam and Eve believe the lie from the beginning. The first thing Satan attacked Jesus with in the wilderness was his identity—“if you are the son of God.” Satan does not want you to know what God has created you to be in such a time as this. As long as you doubt this—you will not step into what He wants for you and this world. Even more than this—Satan does not have to do much work against you because you are already walking defeated!!!
In Matthew 6 when Jesus is teaching His disciples how to pray, He says, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Look at the context before and after. This is not some begging approach to the Father, but it is a commission to bring His will on this earth through His people. It is definitely a lot more going on here than something we recite before a ballgame with the guys. The commission is to bring Kingdom! This happens by proclamation and demonstration.
James reminds us—”faith without works is dead.”
We are now living in an exciting time! We are about to see the church rise up and take her place among the earth. The bride is being refined to be ready to meet her groom. True followers, true believers will stay the course and see some great things in the midst of chaos. From what I can tell in Jesus words of Matthew 24 is not that the world will be so peaceful, but that His children will proclaim and bring Kingdom to the planet in spite of it.
A great awakening is beginning. Not a revival as we have seen. Most revivals have died out and never lasted. But this great awakening will reshape the globe! We can’t be blinded from the chaos. It’s time to take our place. Go proclaim and bring KINGDOM!
