Through It All…(Part III)

“YET THROUGH IT ALL, this joyful assurance of the realm of heaven’s kingdom will be proclaimed all over the world, providing every nation with a demonstration of the reality of God. And after this the end of this age will arrive.”  Matthew 24:14

I would like to continue the topic of “Through it all.” Last time we looked at the verse Revelation 12:11 detailing how they overcome the enemy. One of the things that I am hearing and reading about in social media posts today is the fear and wonder people have concerning how we will defeat the invisible enemy- aka COVID-19. The truth is that we have had an invisible enemy at war since we came into this world. This enemy seeks to kill, steal, and destroy—even if we choose to ignore him or pretend it’s not that serious. People are super/hyper-aware that they put on extra “armor” before going into public places (gloves, masks, scarfs, face shields, etc.). However, we have had an enemy this whole time.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”   1 Peter 5:8

Notice the wording in this passage—“LIKE a roaring lion.” He always makes himself appear deadlier and bigger than he really is.  Now don’t get me wrong—he is real. He is very real. He is sly. He is cunning. He is deadly. However, if we are IN Christ, we are more than conquerors. (John 15, John 17, Romans 8, 2 Corinthians 4 & 13, Galatians 1, 2 & 4, Colossians 1:27) We do not fight as desperate nobody’s, but we are IN Christ and Christ IN us. Therefore, we fight like it too!

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”  Ephesians 6:10-13.

Since the moment we came into relationship with Jesus, we should have been coming out of the house protected and ready for battle.  We may be where we are now somewhat because we have ignored the battle too long and we have forgotten how to fight.

Remember David? When did he fall into temptation that led to a spiral of cataclysmic proportion?  When it was a season of BATTLE.  When kings went to war. Where was David? At home with an idle mind and idle hands. As the king he should have been all in.  Instead, the enemy got him when he was “wondering” and not engaged in battle. (2 Samuel 11 for details)

Here’s my point. We have to learn to fight. Fight with the weapons we have been given. Fight with the protection we have been given. Fight the right enemy—realizing who the enemy is. Fight from a biblical standpoint and not the world’s.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and BY THE WORD OF THEIR TESTIMONY, and they did not love their lives to the death.  Revelation 12:11

They overcame! The word of their testimony implies a logos word. According to Strong’s definition it could imply:  a word, uttered by a living voice; what someone has said; the sayings of God, decree, mandate or order; of the moral precepts given by God; Old Testament prophecy given by the prophets; what is declared; declaration, a weighty saying, a maxim, the act of speaking.

To give a foundation of a couple of things before I continue, we must understand these truths.

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”  Isaiah 55:11

We see this being so since the very beginning. Let me show you.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”  John 1:1-2

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”  Genesis 1:1-2

When you look at these two verses intently, we find that in the perfect harmony of the Trinity, Father God speaks, Jesus (the word) goes forth, and Holy Spirit is intimately hovering over creation to bring heaven to earth! Such a beautiful, intimate picture of the ONENESS of the TRINITY. This is also a spiritual law that is still in place and always will be, because God never negates His word.

Now let me show you one more spiritual law to consider before we continue.

“Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word.”  Psalm 103:20

The Hebrew word for heeding is shama, which means “to come to attention like a soldier, to perceive intelligently and obey, and to give undivided attention for the purpose of obeying or fulfilling.”

So, let’s look intently at this new law combined with what we have already learned. When the word of the Lord is declared, angels stand at attention ready to perform that task! To be clear, they are not slaves and they don’t just heed your voice because you want it.  It is the Word of the Lord, or it must line up with the Word of the Lord.  This is not to be used for selfish gain or to get into angel worship. However, you must realize there are spiritual laws in place and these are two good ones.  You have a host of heaven—Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and Angels ready to release God’s will here on this earth! (Mathew 6)

The next spiritual law we need to understand when relating to the power of the testimony is the power of our mouth, our words.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”  Proverbs  18:21

“And so the tongue is a small part of the body yet it carries great power! Just think of how a small flame can set a huge forest ablaze. 6 And the tongue is a fire! It can be compared to the sum total of wickedness and is the most dangerous part of our human body. It corrupts the entire body and is a hellish flame! It releases a fire that can burn throughout the course of human existence. 7 For every wild animal on earth including birds, creeping reptiles, and creatures of the sea and land have all been overpowered and tamed by humans, 8 but the tongue is not able to be tamed. It’s a fickle, unrestrained evil that spews out words full of toxic poison! 9 We use our tongue to praise God our Father and then turn around and curse a person who was made in his very image! 10 Out of the same mouth we pour out words of praise one minute and curses the next. My brothers and sister, this should never be! 11–12 Would you look for olives hanging on a fig tree or go to pick figs from a grapevine? Is it possible that fresh and bitter water can flow out of the same spring? So neither can a bitter spring produce fresh water”  James 3:5-12 TPT

“Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. 21 And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You CURSED (SPOKE TO) has withered away.” 22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, WHOEVER SAYS to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but BELIEVES THAT THOSE THINGS HE SAYS will be done, he will have whatever HE SAYS. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”  Mark 11:20-24

When these truths, these spiritual laws, begin to take form in your heart, you will see the need to act upon them.  For instance, there are things that I have noticed over the past couple of weeks, that we, the church body are in agreement with the enemy regarding.  This is setting ourselves up for huge persecution by our government as we are silently watching our rights being stripped away.  My first reaction is to get mad at people because no one is seeing it—as if they are my enemy. The Holy Spirit quietly reminded me that is not why those things were revealed to me, but instead they were revealed so that I would speak and pray over that situation.

I believe when we do this we will enter into a new season of spiritual growth.  Where the redeemed of the Lord will SAY SO!

“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,”  Psalm 107:2

Now let me show you some examples of the power of the testimony from the Bible. Some that maybe we do not often, if ever, think about. I love the story of the woman at the well. She immediately returns to her hometown and they believe because of her testimony. Then this opens the door for Jesus to be able to minister more—all because of her testimony! (John 4:1-42) But check these out!

In Mark 4 we see the parable of the seeds. Very good and in-depth story comparing a lot of stuff to how the kingdom operates. “The Kingdom of God is if a man scatters seed,” Jesus says.  He explains so much that He has to clarify most of it for them later.

“And with many such parables He spoke the word to them as they were able to hear it. 34 But without a parable He did not speak to them. And when they were alone, He explained all things to His disciples.”  Mark 4:33-34

After all of this explaining, the very next verse has something very important to pay attention to.  Something we will miss if we are not careful.

“On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”  Mark 4:35

You are probably saying, “Yeah, ok…what’s your point?”

Look at the rest of it.

‘Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”  Mark 4:36-40

Seriously, what if we were in the boat. Would we be offended that He ask us that question? I mean on what ground is He asking that kind of question. Is it because He is in the boat? I would say yeah that is part of it.  But look at scripture as a whole, and get into the story.  He had just finished telling them how the kingdom operates.  The seed is the word of God.  The kingdom of God is if a man scatters it.  He can scatter it by his life and by his words!

After Jesus has explained this for no telling how long, then He looks at them and says, “Hey boys! Come on! We going to the other side.” If Jesus is the Word (John 1) and He says we going to the other side—guess what—He going! So, when the storm comes—they forgot their lessons of Kingdom, they forgot what the word (Jesus) had said, and looked at the circumstance more than the word.

Oh, you of little faith.”

Wow! Talk about a life lesson in that boat that day! The word of the Lord is bigger than circumstances!

Or what about the story of the woman who touched Jesus’ garments. (Matthew 9, Mark 5, and Luke 8)

She believed and SAID to herself that if she could just touch His garments she would be healed. Well, you know what happen—she was! Now that is powerful in itself that she spoke to herself and believed it.  But the part I want to point out is that later in Matthew 14 it says that many begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment, and the ones that did were all healed!

Where did they get the faith to do that? One woman’s testimony (with the issue of blood) spread like fire and faith arose in many more!

What’s your testimony?

What has God done for you?

Get the WORD out!

What scripture can you declare over situations—speaking and believing/instead of eyes on circumstances?

Let faith and hope arise!

We will overcome!
